Our specialties

We offer a wide range of clinical specialties and support services through our innovative insourcing & outsourcing models.

Our fellowship-trained consultants specialise in the complete spectrum of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery, ranging from local anaesthetic skin cancer reconstruction using flaps and grafts, to major reconstruction of upper and lower limb pathology, as well as free-tissue transfer for a plethora of conditions including breast reconstruction. Moreover, we take care of everything, from pre-operative work-up, post-operative monitoring and follow-up once patients are discharged.

Specialising in ‘see and treat’ clinics for 2 week-wait cancer patients, as well as general skin conditions, we cover the breadth of dermatology for both adult and paediatric patients. We compress treatment pathways so that patients are seen and diagnosed by a consultant dermatologist, and then operated on by a consultant plastic surgeon in the same clinic visit. In addition, we process histology results in 24-72 hours depending on the complexity of the specimen, and our clinical leads’ attendance at Trust MDTs is mandatory. Our clinics epitomise efficiency in healthcare with a GIRFT-aligned operating model.

Our high-volume cataract lists deliver a minimum of 25 cataracts per theatre per day by streamlining clinical pathways, optimising patient flow and having experienced theatre and surgical teams working harmoniously. We also carry out complex oculoplastic reconstruction for ptosis, tumours and facial palsy, using only oculoplastic fellowship-trained consultants.

We manage pain holistically utilising our MDT, comprising of consultants in pain medicine, psychologists, therapists, and support staff. Whether it is therapy-related treatment, or an intervention using injections or radio-frequency ablation, every patient receives a consultant-led and delivered treatment plan with the follow up required to ensure optimal outcomes.

We have experts in both upper and lower GI surgery, as well as in bariatric surgery, abdominal wall reconstruction and robotics. Our clinical teams have a strong academic foundation, and have been instrumental in developing the use of robotic surgery for both day case surgery and for more complex pathology in their respective NHS Trusts. Many of our consultants sit on various MDT panels and are National and International authorities in their respective subspecialty area.

Utilising prehabilitation to optimise patients prior to arthroplasty, we are able to reliably predict and reduce in-patient stays and get patients mobile immediately post-op. Our surgeons specialise in high-volume arthroplasty for hips and knees, as well day-case surgery, and have decades of experience between them to deliver GIRFT-aligned exceptional orthopaedic care, recording all surgical procedures and outcomes on the NJR.

Our surgeons specialise in local anaesthetic varicose vein surgery, and have pioneered high-volume pathways at their base hospitals as well as in Trusts further afield. In addition to day case surgery, we have the expertise to carry out complex bypass surgery for lower limb vasculopathies and intermittent claudication, working alongside the local surgical and diagnostic teams in NHS Trusts.

Our surgeons have pioneered use of techniques such as WALANT and are able to carry out the majority of hand surgery with patients awake. Not only does this reduce hospital admissions, but it also engages patients with ‘Day -zero’ rehabilitation, optimising results and improving functional outcomes of surgery. All our surgeons have hand fellowships, are holders of the prestigious Hand Diploma, and are experienced in conditions ranging from carpal tunnel syndrome and Dupuytren’s disease, through to base of thumb OA and soft tissue reconstruction of the hand and wrist.

Ranging from day-case adult and paediatric procedures, to complex head and neck reconstruction, our fellowship-trained consultants manage the complete patient pathway and integrate into the Trust MDT. Our sub-specialties include head and neck cancer, rhinology, otology and laryngology, and we work alongside Trust consultants and specialist nurses to ensure patient care is seamless.

The aforementioned list is not exhaustive, and we have the necessary clinical experience to deliver projects in the following clinical specialities both for interventions and for outpatient clinics: urology, endoscopy, hepatology, radiology, respiratory, cardiology and gynaecology.
